Limiting Exposure to Drive-By Lawsuits

Worn Striping at Accessible Parking Spaces

Access aisles should be marked so as to discourage parking in them.

Cracks and Uneven Surfaces at Accessible Parking Spaces

Changes in level and cracks should be avoided if they are severe.

Built up Curb Ramps at Accessible Parking Spaces

Curb ramps that project into access aisles should be avoided.

Missing Access Aisles at Accessible Parking Spaces

Accessible parking spaces should have adjacent access aisles.

Severe Slopes at Accessible Parking Spaces

Access aisles should be at the same level as the accessible parking spaces they serve.

Missing Paths of Travel

While not specifically mandated by the code, an accessible route to the  accessible entrance of a building should be designated.

Unramped Steps

Ramps and curb ramps are required along any accessible route where feasible.

Center Post Dining Tables

While most wheelchair users will have no difficulty using a center post table, restaurants should provide code compliant tables in each dining area (a favorite of drive-by plaintiffs).
